Summary:

Production Operators perform various manufacturing jobs related to the Injection Molding Production area.

 Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the production line of Battenfeld injection molding machines, ranging in size from 65 to 720 tons, casting products from thermoplastic materials.
  • Remove/unload finished components and parts from conveyor belts
  • Physically and/or visually inspect and evaluate parts for conformance and quality based on established criteria and specifications as notated in process books.
  • Execute any pre- or post-molding secondary operations including trimming.
  • Measure and/or gauge components to ensure each is within specification.
  • Trim and de-flash excess material from part using razor knife or specialty cutters.
  • Operation of any secondary/auxiliary equipment including arbor presses and propane torches.
  • Observe continuous operation of machines to detect jams or malfunctions.
  • Manually pack parts into various sized containers.
  • Inventory, scan, and record quantities of finished products.
  • Monitor and document scrap quantities; inform Process Technician, Quality Manager, or Production Manager per occurrence.
  • Handle materials such as plastics, resins, and cardboard.
  • Maintain high standard of cleanliness in machine and work areas.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED. Injection molding experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Ability to work at fast pace with attention to detail.

Physical Demands:

  • Constant bilateral simple hand grasping.

SUMMARY:

The Quality Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of strategic quality and training programs and processes including the planning, management and coordination of quality control activities to ensure delivery of the highest quality products.  The Quality Manager aligns closely with operations, customers and others in support of the overall goals, objectives, mission and vision of the organization. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Establish, promote and maintain a “quality culture” through world class quality management that focuses on continuous improvement of all activities and processes.
  • Thorough understanding of PPAP processes.
  • Effectively manage the Quality Management System to comply with ISO 9001 Quality Standards.
  • Develop, maintain and foster quality assurance plans through risk analysis; identifying critical control points and preventive measures; establishing critical limits; monitoring procedures and execution relative to standards and directives, corrective / preventative action and validation procedures.
  • Responsible for coordinating calibration and recording of test devices.
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating all controlled QMS documentation including but not limited to the Quality Manual, Procedures, Work Instructions, Records, etc.
  • Initiate and lead improvement to solve quality related issues, ensuring corrective actions are comprehensive, effective and efficient.
  • Act as a change agent to engage employees to ensure quality processes are deployed and improvements become integrated throughout the operation.
  • Validate and sustain quality through alignment of resource knowledge and activity, inspection control plans, standardized measuring, gauging and test methods.  
  • Improve product quality by completing product, company, system, and compliance audits; investigation of customer complaints; reviewing and analyzing returned product; collaborate with other managers to develop manufacturing and training methods based on quality data.
  • Work with purchasing on establishing quality requirements with suppliers.
  • Manage RMA process and material.
  • Prepare quality KPI’s, documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends including failure analysis, stability studies, defects, corrective actions, and re-validations.
  • Stay informed of job knowledge by studying trends and developments in quality management; participation in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining professional networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Monitor, advise and report on the performance of quality management and related data to ensure data driven decision making.
  • Develop and provide quality training across the organization in various formats and media.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement programs in support of quality best practices and efficient and effective manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain knowledge of and effectively utilize various databases.  Train, inspire and assist crew in the effective utilization of same.
  • Manage and address employee relations issues on varying levels; engage with Operations Director on any issue that extends beyond minor daily activity.  May include policy violations, conflicts of interest, and personality and behavioral issues, among others.
  • Participate in the formation of actionable, value-added solutions through suggestions and feedback to appropriate staff.  Identify and communicate ideas that support production and quality best practices.
  • Develop and foster strong working relationships across all departments and levels of the organization.
  • Ensure that all safety and health guidelines are followed and help facilitate the company’s perspective and culture regarding overall workplace safety. 
  • Collaborate in the advancement of safety procedures, programs and incentives.
  • Develop testing and evaluation procedures for training.
  • Collaborate with management and HR to conduct training needs assessment to identify training needs based on projected production processes, changes, and other factors.
  • Review and evaluate training programs for compliance with quality management system standards.
  • Establish, monitor and maintain training requirements, schedules, and compliance in coordination with HR.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • 7-10 years’ experience in a related industry or discipline with focus on operational excellence.  Experience in quality leadership in a manufacturing environment is essential.
  • Experience managing a Quality Management System and ISO 9001 Quality Standards required.
  • LEAN experience very beneficial.
  • Hands-on knowledge of an enterprise resource system is imperative.  Experience in implementation of data and quality related modules in an ERP system is desirable.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively interact on all levels of the organization.

 MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Intermediate to advanced math aptitude is required.

Summary:

Responsible for assisting and directing activities in the Mold PM area that will deliver timely and efficient preventive maintenance and repair of production molds, dies, tools, and fixtures.

Mold PM Tech Responsibilities:

  • Perform work within the Laszeray preventive maintenance program once a mold is finished running or after a certain number of cycles.
  • Wash mold with safety solvent to remove varnish and build-up from the molding process.
  • Replace bent, worn, or broken injector pins. Inspect ejector system for proper alignment. Determine if injector pin holes need re-drilled and bored to a larger size, and the existing pins replaced with over size pins.
  • Worn leader pins, bushings, and all bearing moving surfaces should be checked for wear and replaced/repaired as required.
  • Clean and lubricant moving components in open and closed positions to prevent corrosion and wear. Make adjustments as required.
  • Clean all vents; inspect for depth, width, and land; if necessary, have machined to original specifications.
  • Drain and inspect water lines for blocked flow and leaks; inspect and/or replace “O” rings, plugs, seals, and gaskets.
  • Cavity surface is to be inspected for wear or erosion of plating or texturing. Clean and polish mold cavity surface as required to the original surface requirements.
  • Inspect mold base for cracks, hardening, and corrosion.
  • Fit, assemble, and tighten all bolts, clamps, and plates to specification.
  • Make repairs to hot runners and nozzles and needed.
  • Work to close tolerances, ensuring quality workmanship on all molds, tools, and fixtures.
  • Maintain consistent and effective component cleaning and storage.
  • Tag molds as described in LZ mold tagging procedure.
  • Coordinates the Mold PM off-shift schedule and documents/tracks activities by mold.
  • Escalate tool issues by consistently and openly sharing information with the Operations Manager.
  • Make recommendations to continuously improve projects, molds, and fixtures.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and help other Molding areas when workload shifts.
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures, regulations, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Utilize and abide by ISO requirements.
  • Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces; adhering to standards per Laszeray Technology process books.
  • Maintain equipment and work tools by performing regular cleaning and light maintenance; adhering to preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; trouble-shooting malfunctions; and notifying management for machine malfunction and/or repairs.
  • Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job improvements.
  • Proactively aware of workload and plans the requirements for future jobs ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in training and educational opportunities; reading technical publications.

Physical Demands:

  • Excellent problem solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and willing to work overtime when necessary to complete a project.
  • Knowledge in the use and application of precision measuring instruments; including calipers, ID and OD micrometers, comparators, gauge pins, bore gauges, indicators, and various customer gauges.
  • Mathematical: Ability to perform basic math computation; and to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Conceptualization and reasoning: Ability to define problem, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Summary:

Laszeray Technology Maintenance Technicians perform various maintenance functions throughout the entire organization including diagnosis and repairs of machinery, equipment, and the facility.

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to machine breakdowns during a 5-day/week, 24-hour production schedule
  • Molding Department: Repair of our 65 to 730 ton injection molding machines, automated equipment/robots, fixtures, safety equipment, air compressors, and water chillers. Coordinate outside service when necessary.
  • Facility: Troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance includes plant utilities, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, plumbing, painting, drywall, and HVAC. Coordinate outside service when necessary.
  • Maintain adequate supply of frequently used parts and supplies. Requisition and restock as needed. Provide information and/or communicate the ordering of parts and equipment from vendors.
  • Monitor and notify Operations Manager concerning any necessary equipment repairs, safety hazards, damage, or acts of vandalism.
  • Communicate environmental, safety & health hazards to management, and maintain OSHA compliance.
  • Carry out safety inspections for all machines, fixtures, and safety equipment (fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, etc.)
  • Secure and maintain storage areas and cleaning equipment, tools, materials, and supplies in a safe and orderly manner to ensure the safety of employees and visitors.
  • Perform any related work as assigned; and attend to urgent matters and emergencies as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

 Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or 1-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior injection molding experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work at fast pace with attention to detail.
  • Ability to understand and carry out routine oral and written directions.
  • Must be able to work independently.

SUMMARY:

The Mold Setter aligns with manufacturing operations and engineering to achieve optimal production efficiency and effectiveness in support of the overall goals, objectives, mission and vision of the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Mold set-up and removal
  • Operate tow motor
  • Setup work area around the presses
  • Maintain order of all tools and equipment
  • Clean components
  • Assist with cleaning the molding/production floor
  • Mold tear down and assembly
  • Promote group continuity through effective verbal and written communication.
  • Enforces all safety rules and regulations as required by local, state, and federal government mandates, including all rules established by plant management and the plant safety committee.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma and 1-2 years’ experience in Injection Molding or other contract manufacturing environment set-up/removal.
  • Capable of physical mobility including walking, sitting, bending, twisting, standing, pushing, pulling and lifting (up to 50 pounds periodically). Capable of visual acuity to include distinguishing color variation and detecting defects.
  • Able to work safely in a production environment; Strong knowledge of OSHA requirements.
  • Ability and willingness to work in other areas of production (Injection molding machines, pad printing, material handling), as well as overtime when needed.
  • Technically and mechanically inclined; Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic systems and fluid power
  • Able to read blueprints and schematics (preferred)
  • Efficient in MS Office
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
