Summary:

Production Operators perform various manufacturing jobs related to the Injection Molding Production area.

 Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the production line of Battenfeld injection molding machines, ranging in size from 65 to 720 tons, casting products from thermoplastic materials.
  • Remove/unload finished components and parts from conveyor belts
  • Physically and/or visually inspect and evaluate parts for conformance and quality based on established criteria and specifications as notated in process books.
  • Execute any pre- or post-molding secondary operations including trimming.
  • Measure and/or gauge components to ensure each is within specification.
  • Trim and de-flash excess material from part using razor knife or specialty cutters.
  • Operation of any secondary/auxiliary equipment including arbor presses and propane torches.
  • Observe continuous operation of machines to detect jams or malfunctions.
  • Manually pack parts into various sized containers.
  • Inventory, scan, and record quantities of finished products.
  • Monitor and document scrap quantities; inform Process Technician, Quality Manager, or Production Manager per occurrence.
  • Handle materials such as plastics, resins, and cardboard.
  • Maintain high standard of cleanliness in machine and work areas.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED. Injection molding experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Ability to work at fast pace with attention to detail.

Physical Demands:

  • Constant bilateral simple hand grasping.
  • Continuous visual sensory demands: near acuity, color vision, and depth perception.
  • Frequent lifting and/or carrying a maximum of up to 40 lbs.

Summary:

The Utility is a self‐directed operator with good leadership skills and the ability to assist the Shift Supervisor by coordinating production activities for the Operators. 

 Responsibilities:

  • Production floor support:
    • Support Operators by providing any documentation, labels, packing materials and/or gages needed at each workstation.
    • Communicate with the other Utility Operators and Shift Supervisors during the Shift Hand-off Meetings to discuss relevant production and personnel matters as needed to meet work objectives.
    • Maintain a clean, neat, and safe work environment. Identify and resolve potential safety hazards.
    • Promote an environment that fosters teamwork and open communication that includes a focus on quality, safety, and efficiency. Continuously monitor and ensure work policies / procedures are being followed at each press in assigned section.
    • Lead continuous process improvement efforts to reduce scrap, cycle times, improve efficiency, and eliminate waste within the production environment.
    • Setting up workstations at presses when new jobs are put in. This includes getting supplies, components, and tools needed job the job.
    • Transfer of components and supplies to proper bin locations using Epicor (ERP) system.
    • Putting away leftover components and supplies when jobs finish. This includes piece counting the parts, applying new labeling, and sealing boxes. Transfer the material back to the correct warehouse bin in Epicor.
    • Cleanliness and organization of warehouse bins where components are stored in.
  • Training
    • Assist with training in operational procedures and work instructions.
    • Instruct, train and coach the machine operators in all aspects of their roles, including the proper techniques, work instructions, production methods, quality assurance and inspection, and manufacturing plant operation.
    • Provide ongoing training and offer timely performance feedback to Operators during their shift. 
    • Present Shift Supervisor with relevant feedback, by Operator, during the Performance Review Process.
  • Rework
    • Coordinate / assign rework to Operators who have availability during their scheduled shift.
    • Perform rework on a regular basis.
    • Verify the count of RMA, disposition the product, direct Operators how to rework the product and verify the correct completion of the paperwork.
    • Input data to MRB as needed.
  • Break Coverage
    • Coordinate scheduled breaks / lunches and support Operators while they are away from their work area.
    • Operate manual or auto injection molding presses.
    • Inspect, trim, label and package plastic molded products.
  • Use sound judgment, manufacturing experience and technical knowledge to accomplish production goals and objectives.
    • Lead by example and comply with all work rules and guidelines; Maintain a polite, courteous and professional manner at all times.
    • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules.
    • Exhibits regular, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance.

The Role: The Dimensional Inspector ensures the quality of all products produced within the organization meets all internal/external standards by performing product testing and collecting / entering raw data into the specific inspection logs. This individual should have the ability to work as a team, make decisions about the parts they are handling, and work closely with their supervisor to ensure the proper handling of parts and job duties. Being a friendly, self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal skills is necessary for this role.

 Responsibilities:

  • Inspects for dimensional accuracy and surface defects by reading blueprints and using

calipers, micrometers, height gage, etc.

  • Perform visual and accurate dimensional inspections on parts throughout the manufacturing process to ensure conformance with standards and requirements.
  • Complete inspection records and reports and record data accordingly and accurately.
  • Identify and report non-conformances. Follow non-conformance procedure and document acceptance after re-work or other approved repairs.
  • Ideal candidate(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed, and may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks.
  • Maintain production efficiency levels.

 Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • 5-10 years of experience; High school degree or GED; or Equivalent years of experience
  • Machining / plastic injection molding experience highly desired.
  • Understanding formal problem solving is highly beneficial.
  • Intermediate level technical ability. Expertise in ERP, Microsoft Windows, and Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of employees.
  • Ability to multi-task and progress several projects simultaneously.
  • Must have the ability to read blueprints and use all types of gages and measuring equipment.
  • Strong mathematical skills are required.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand and sit. Regularly required to use hands to feel or handle tools.
  • Specific vision abilities required include peripheral vision, close inspection, depth perception, ability to focus on details and color discrepancies.  

SUMMARY:

The Mold Setter aligns with manufacturing operations and engineering to achieve optimal production efficiency and effectiveness in support of the overall goals, objectives, mission and vision of the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Mold set-up and removal
  • Operate tow motor
  • Setup work area around the presses
  • Maintain order of all tools and equipment
  • Clean components
  • Assist with cleaning the molding/production floor
  • Mold tear down and assembly
  • Promote group continuity through effective verbal and written communication.
  • Enforces all safety rules and regulations as required by local, state, and federal government mandates, including all rules established by plant management and the plant safety committee.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma and 1-2 years’ experience in Injection Molding or other contract manufacturing environment set-up/removal.
  • Capable of physical mobility including walking, sitting, bending, twisting, standing, pushing, pulling and lifting (up to 50 pounds periodically). Capable of visual acuity to include distinguishing color variation and detecting defects.
  • Able to work safely in a production environment; Strong knowledge of OSHA requirements.
  • Ability and willingness to work in other areas of production (Injection molding machines, pad printing, material handling), as well as overtime when needed.
  • Technically and mechanically inclined; Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic systems and fluid power
  • Able to read blueprints and schematics (preferred)

Summary:

The Quality Inspector ensures the quality of all products produced within the organization meets all internal/external standards by auditing daily and/or hourly, performing product testing and collecting / entering raw data into the specific inspection logs.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspection / Audits / Testing
    • Complete a written line audit at set intervals throughout the shift.
    • Audit all product being packed, taping the box when full and signing the label in the corner as the Operator completes it, when required.
    • Conduct daily Material audits.
    • Verify the accurate completion of Operator Inspection sheets.
    • Visually inspect product from each press on a daily basis.
    • Verify proper functionality of all working scales.
    • Measuring part dimensions when identified by quality requirements.
    • Performing incoming and outgoing inspections.
    • Use calipers, height gauge, and other measuring equipment to measure product.
    • Read and interrupt drawings/prints.
    • Accept and reject product in accordance with quality standards.
  • Collecting / Entering Data
    • Collect inspection data to identify and support continuous improvement opportunities.
    • Complete daily “INSPECTION & LOT TRACEABILITY LOG”
    • Complete necessary product testing paperwork and/or logs as needed.
  • Samples
    • Identify and notify responsible personnel when a process book needs updated.
    • Verify criteria pictures are correct.
    • Ensure samples are stored correctly.
    • Ensure all necessary criteria samples are brought out at the beginning of a production run.
  • Training
    • Assist with the training of new temporary and permanent employees on quality requirements.
    • Demonstrate and review quality procedures with Operators as needed.
    • Provide ongoing training on quality alerts and criteria
  • Non-Conformance Area
    • Coordinate / assign rework to Operators who have availability during their scheduled shift.
    • Perform rework on a regular basis.
    • Verify the count of RMA, disposition the product, direct Operators how to rework the product and verify the correct completion of the paperwork.
